Testers needed — the beta is closed, not shut

newsAlso inEnglishEspañolPortuguês (BR)

GodsBattle Online is in closed beta and we are looking for testers.

Closed does not mean shut. There is no waiting list and nobody is being judged
on an application. It means registration asks for an invite code, and the codes
are handed out by hand so that we know roughly who is in the world on any given
evening — which matters a great deal when something breaks and we are trying to
work out what everyone was doing at the time.

How to get in

Send us a DM on Facebook and we will send you a code. That is the whole
process. Redeem it at the registration page and the same account
gets you the website and the game.

Ask for more than one. If you would rather not test alone — and testing is
considerably better with company — say how many you need and we will send them.
We would much rather hand a group of four a code each than watch one person walk
an empty map. Parties, guilds, people you used to play the old game with: bring
them.

What we actually want from you

Not a QA report. Just play, and tell us when the game does something strange.

The useful thing is specifics. "It broke" is hard to act on. "I handed in the
Sparta courier quest around 21:15 and the client closed itself" names a place, a
time and an action, and that is enough for us to go and find it in a log.

Do the unreasonable things, too. Take the class nobody takes. Walk to the corner
of the map with nothing in it. Most of what we have tested well is the part we
already knew about — the map is enormous and our own play has covered a small
fraction of it.

Fair warning

It is a beta. There will be restarts, there will be evenings where something is
plainly wrong, and there may yet be a wipe if we find something that has poisoned
the database badly enough to warrant one. We will tell you here when that
happens rather than hoping nobody noticed.

Nothing costs money. There is no shop taking real currency, and there will not
be one during the beta.

See you in Sparta.
