Testers have a page of their own now

updateAlso inEnglishEspañolPortuguês (BR)

If you are in the closed beta, log in and there is a new page waiting for you:
godsbattle.online/beta. It is visible only to accounts holding an
invite code.

It exists because we kept asking testers the same three questions after the fact,
and because nobody could see what their character had actually been given.

What your character is given

Every beta character is stocked automatically — on creation, and again whenever
we top the kit up. The page now shows exactly what that means: every forge
material with its real icon from the game, how many of each, and what each
gem family actually does. Rubies raise an item's level, sapphires its quality,
emeralds its rank, crystals buy success chance and nothing else.

The kit is a ceiling, not a gift. A top-up refills you to those numbers
rather than adding to them, so you cannot lose it by spending it — which is the
entire point. Spend it. It exists so that reaching a system is never the thing
that stops you reporting on it, and it will not exist at launch.

A form that asks the right questions

There is now a report form on that page. It asks which part of the game, how
badly it got in your way, whether it happens every time, and which character
it happened on.

Those four things are the difference between a report we can act on this evening
and one that costs a conversation first. Reproducibility especially: "it happens
every time" and "it happened once" are different bugs with different causes, and
you are the only person who can tell us which one it was.

Your own reports are listed underneath with a status, so you can see that they
were read.

What your reports already fixed

Nearly all of this came from testers saying something was wrong. In rough order
of how much it mattered:

  • Players can see each other. For most of the beta everyone was alone in the
world without knowing it — the frame that introduces one player to another was
    never being sent.
  • Every class can be created. It made a Champion no matter which you picked.
  • Potions work. All of them were being consumed and doing nothing.
  • Skills upgrade instead of stacking — no more Jab 1 sitting beside Jab 2.
  • Dying no longer zeroes your character sheet.
  • The Gold shop and the warehouse accept you.
  • Clicking Info on another player shows you their gear rather than your own.
  • One account cannot be played twice at once.

And what is still missing

We would rather say it than let you find out with your own evening.

Talents, zodiac and pets open a window with nothing behind it. Buff potions do
nothing — healing and mana potions work, the ones that grant an effect do not,
because the system they need does not exist yet. Trading and parties are not
built. Nemea will throw you out of the game; it is a map we do not serve yet.

Reporting any of those again costs you nothing, but you are not missing anything
by leaving them alone.

If the launcher would not patch

There was a stretch where the launcher would start downloading and stop with
"could not download AudioSys.dll: the server answered 404". That was ours: the
file list we published pointed at the wrong address, so every file in it failed.
It is fixed, and the download page now always hands out the current launcher
rather than one the updater immediately replaces.

If you hit it, download the launcher again from the site and it should go
through. If it still does not, tell us on the beta page — that one is worth
knowing about quickly.
