0.2.0
Players can see each other
The first patch written from tester reports — visibility, character creation, potions, skills, and a launcher that patches again.
The closed beta's first week produced a written list of nineteen findings, and this
patch is most of it. Almost nothing below was found by us.
Fixed
- Players can see each other. For most of the beta everyone was alone in the
world without knowing it — the frame that introduces one player to another was
never being sent. This is the largest thing in the patch, and everything
involving two people was untested rather than working until it landed. - Every class can be created. Character creation made a Champion no matter
which class you picked; the field naming the class was being read from the
wrong place in the request. - Potions work. Every potion in the game was being consumed and doing
nothing. Healing and mana potions now restore what they say they do, using the
original server's own numbers. - Skills upgrade instead of stacking. Learning rank 2 left rank 1 in the
list. The window now shows one row per skill family. - Dying no longer zeroes your character sheet. The values were never lost;
nothing was putting them back on screen after a revival. - The Gold shop and the warehouse accept you. Both refused silently.
- Clicking Info on another player shows their equipment rather than your own.
- Every player is no longer drawn as the same body. Both bytes describing a
character's appearance were being sent as fixed values. - One account cannot be played twice at once. Nothing was holding an account
to a single connection; the newer session now wins and the older is closed. - TP scrolls grant talent points, which is what they always were — they had
been implemented as teleport scrolls against a guess.
Added
- A page for closed-beta testers at
/beta, showing exactly what your
character is given — every forge material with its icon from the game — and a
report form that asks which system, how badly, and whether it happens every
time. - Portal scrolls to Sparta and Athens. Nemea and Parnitha will tell you the
destination is not open yet rather than failing quietly. - Per-class starting equipment, now that every class can exist.
Launcher
- The patcher works again. It would stop with "could not download
AudioSys.dll: the server answered 404". The file list we published pointed at
the wrong address, so every file in it failed. If you hit this, download the
launcher again from the site. - The download page hands out the current launcher rather than one the
updater immediately replaces, which is what caused it to ask for an update on
every single launch. - The realm list refreshes instead of freezing the player count of whenever
the window was opened.
Still missing, and we would rather say so
Talents, zodiac and pets open a window with nothing behind it. Buff potions do
nothing — the ones that heal work, the ones that grant an effect need a system
that does not exist yet. Trading and parties are not built. Nemea will throw you
out of the game; it is a map we do not serve.
You are not missing anything by leaving those alone.
